MailAfrica handles the technical complexity of inbound and outbound email — parsing, routing, hosted inboxes, and deliverability — so local businesses can run professional email on their own domain without needing to manage mail servers themselves.

Most email infrastructure providers are built for global markets and priced in dollars, with billing and compliance assumptions that don't fit East Africa. MailAfrica is different.
Mobile money billing, local compliance awareness (PDPC), and pricing that makes sense for the local market.
Inbound parsing and hosted inboxes alongside outbound sending, so you get a complete email stack, not a partial one.
MailAfrica works alongside SendAfrica (SMS infrastructure) to give businesses unified messaging across email and SMS from one provider they can trust.
Data handling built with Tanzanian data protection rules in mind from the start, not bolted on later.
Startups, SMEs, and platforms operating in Tanzania that need reliable custom-domain email — transactional messages, notifications, or full inbox hosting — without the overhead of running their own mail infrastructure or paying international-rate pricing.

Ask us anythingYou point an MX record at MailAfrica for a domain or subdomain. Mail addressed to that domain arrives on our infrastructure, gets parsed with DKIM/SPF results attached, and is delivered to your webhook or the hosted inbox. For outbound, every send is authenticated (DKIM + SPF) so recipients and providers treat it as legitimate mail.
No. There are no monthly plans or commitments. You pay only for what you use — 5 TZS per message to send or receive, whether on the MailAfrica domain or your own verified domain — straight from your wallet.
MailAfrica is priced in Tanzanian Shillings. Top up your wallet by M-Pesa, Tigo Pesa, Airtel Money, or card (minimum top-up 2,000 TZS), and each message is debited as it happens. No forced USD conversion, no card required to start.
Yes — custom domains work today. Connect your own domain and MailAfrica verifies it separately for receiving and sending. For receiving, add a DNS TXT record with a token (mail-verify=…). For sending, add DKIM and CNAME records. Until verification completes, the domain can't be used.
Register an endpoint and MailAfrica delivers structured JSON to it for every matching message — headers, body, attachments, and delivery status. Each delivery is HMAC-signed so you can verify it before trusting the payload, and MailAfrica retries on failure.
Yes. The sandbox gives you disposable SMTP credentials and captures the mail you send through them on your account (capped at 2,000 captured messages per month), so you can test the whole flow without sending real mail or topping up.
Yes. Verify your domain once with DKIM and CNAME records, then send outbound mail as you@yourbusiness.tld. Sending costs a flat 5 TZS per recipient, whether from your own verified domain or the MailAfrica sender — no premium for custom domains.
Up to 100 sender IDs per account, recipients batched in chunks of 50 per send, 10 attachments per message (20 MiB total), and a minimum top-up of 2,000 TZS. See the docs for the full list.
Both. Businesses use MailAfrica for professional email on their own domain with guided DNS setup. Developers use the API for inbound parsing, transactional sending, webhooks, and sandbox testing. Same platform, two paths.
MailAfrica is designed around Tanzania's PDPC guidance. Set retention windows per address, export an audit trail on demand as CSV or JSON, and keep data handling scoped to what your policy allows — encrypted at rest and in transit.
